Here’s the scene: You, feeling a little rejected for whatever reason and you refuse to have another night of Krispy Kremes and Ben & Jerry’s! You find yourself in this night spot, eyes low while pensively looking around the room and then you notice: Him, eyes fixed, grin cocked. And then … sweet surrender!
Your TouchThis song was written about 15 years ago and I just got around to recording it for this project. Thank goodness songs about Love are timeless! This is my venture into R&B with a little nod to Anita Baker that you will notice a couple times during the song. This song also features Glen Quarrie on horn and Scott Currier doing a killer solo on keys!
I'm Not AfraidThis was the first song I wrote for “Let Go,” and it was wonderful tapping into the songwriter again. It had been a long time since I allowed myself to settle down long enough to hear that creative voice that exists in all of us. As you will notice, the verses don’t follow a rhyme pattern; it’s just words that came straight from my heart. The chorus does rhyme, but that was purely coincidental, not forced.
I was really ready to love again and allowing these words to pour out of me seemed to create space in my heart to receive the love that had been so afraid to open myself up to. When I first wrote down the words, “I’m Not Afraid,” I had to take a pause because I realized that statement was actually true. The original title was to be “I Trust You With My Heart,” but once the song was recorded, I realized that the title “I’m Not Afraid” framed the song better! Enjoy.
ShineNo album is complete without the proverbial “brag” song and Gloria does it very subtly with Shine, which includes a play on her nickname … Glo. This song was actually inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth which encourages us to live in the moment! You will hear this sentiment echoed throughout this song.
